Luella (Doxsie) Powell, age 93, daughter of Grover and Jessie (Pierce) Doxsie was born November 26, 1915 in Roxand Twp., MI. She passed away August 12, 2009 at Houston House Care Center, Houston, MO.
Luella is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard; sister, Ruth Miller; brother, David Doxsie; and two sons, Jesse and Joel Powell.
She is survived by two daughters and one son; Jean Christman of Florissant, MO, Janet Powell/Legault of Suquamish, WA and James Powell of Houston, MO; 10 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and 7 great great-grandchildren.
Luella grew up in Elsie, Michigan. As a teenager she traveled with a gospel team and met her husband, Howard, at a neighboring church. It was a double wedding ceremony along with best friends on October 29, 1933.
Luella and her husband raised their 5 children in Midland, MI. During those years she worked as hostess for the Midland Country Club, taught Sunday school and passed her Christian values on to her children. Four of those children were musicians, received college degrees and two sons became ministers of the gospel.
Later, Luella and her husband lived in Dunedin, FL until his death in November 1969 after 13 years of illness. Since then she has lived in Hadlock, WA; Yuma, AZ; and for the past seven years in Houston, MO.
Luella was a member of the First Church of God, Houston, MO. She received Christ as her Savior while still a child and has remained faithful throughout the years. When the church doors were open she and her family were there.
Luella loved gardening and to “kick the dirt”. She did extensive needlework and crafts until her hands became stiff. Much of her artwork has been distributed around the world. She was a very generous person.
Luella will be buried beside her husband at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, FL.

Lanorrah Jane (Fisher) Powell 1945-2009
Lanorrah Jane (Fisher) Powell, age 64, daughter of Frank Fisher and Ellen Richardson was born April 9, 1945 in Oswego, KS. She passed away June 20, 2009 at her home in Success, MO.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Robert Powell, her father Frank Fisher, one sister Elsie Purshell, and one brother Gerald Elmore.
Lanorrah is survived by her mother: Ellen Lancaster of Rolla, MO; two daughters: Delores Rucker of Success, MO and Diane Johnson of Kenosha, WI; one son: Bobby Powell of Bonne Terre, MO; one grandson: James Shoemaker; two sisters: Norma Kelley of Salem, MO and Barbara Eckert of Rolla, MO; one brother Tom Elmore of Rolla, MO and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Lanorrah married Charles Robert Powell on June 22, 1963 and to this union 3 children were born. She spent many years working at Brown Shoe Company until her health would no longer permit her to do so.
Lanorrah enjoyed spending time in nature with wildlife. She loved watching deer, squirrels, birds and other animals eating and playing. She also liked to spend time fishing. She could often be found frequenting the area yard sales looking for a bargain. Lanorrah loved visiting with her dear friends she had made over the years and cherished her time spent with them. She enjoyed listening to the radio and calling in on the different promotions and programs they have, cutting up with everyone in the Big Country 99 Radion Station.
Lanorrah will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.
