Doris Jean Hurt the daughter of Roscoe Henry Morton and Mazie Opal (Price) Morton was born December 7, 1936 at Summersville, Missouri and passed away at the Mountain View Health Care in Mountain View, Missouri, Friday evening, November 21, 2008 making her age 71 years 11 months and 14 days.
Doris was united in marriage to Jack Hurt Feb 19th, 1955 making their union together 52 years before Jack’s death Feb 1st, 2008. To their union three children were born, Vicky Lynn, Larry Dean, and Michelle Kay.
She was a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy and attended until her health no longer permitted. Doris was a 30 plus year employee of Angelica Uniform Company retiring in January 1989, due to diagnosis of cancer. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Preceding Doris in death are her parents, Roscoe and Mazie Morton; her husband Jack; three brothers, Merle, Bud, and Eddie Morton, 1 grandson Jamie Mckee; and 1 great granddaughter Shaylin Heiney.
She is survived by her children, Vicky Medley and husband Robert of Mountain View, MO; Larry Hurt and wife Melva of Summersville, MO; Michelle Mckee and husband Steve of Summersville, MO; 7 grandchildren, Chris, Bobby and Dustin Medley; Janay Heiney and husband Jason; Jeannette and Jason Hurt; and Cory McKee; 4 great grandchildren, Christen and Dylan Medley; Ashlin and Kaylin Heiney; 1 brother Ray Morton of Mountain View, MO; 5 sisters, Mary Hobbs of Raymondville, MO; Betty Williams of Summersville, MO; Helen Merritt and husband Dean of Summersville, MO; Beverly Hampton of Mountain View, MO; Linda Young and husband Lavern of Summersville, MO; a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Services were held Monday November 24, 2008 at 1 PM at Bradford Funeral Home of summersville with Rev. Stacey Prewett and Rev. Robert Medley officiating. Interment was in Summersville City Cemetery under the care of Bradford Funeral Home.
