Capt. D. P. Killion d. January 20, 1887

Houston, Mo., January 21.--Capt. D. P. Killion, merchant, Treasurer of this county, and one of the most popular young men in this district, died at his residence last evening at 9 o'clock, in the 30th year of his age. He had been sick only a few days. He has been prominent in the politics of Texas County ever since his majority. Born on a small farm, with no early advantages either of wealth or education, he worked unceasingly, studied by the light of pine knots at night, became an excellent scholar, and at his death had accumulated a considerable fortune. He had entered on his second term as County Treasurer.
