Wilma Irene (Ingram) Hancock 1923-2009

Wilma Irene “Ingram” Hancock, age 86, daughter of Garrett and Mavis (Bartch) Ingram, was born April 18, 1923 in Simmons, MO. She passed away May 9, 2009 at St. John’s Hospital Springfield, MO.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herchel, a son-in-law; Vernon Jones, 2 brothers; Dean Ray and Max Ingram, a sister Ruthene Tucker and an infant daughter Linda Lee.

Wilma married Herchel Hancock on November 21, 1945 in Houston by Judge C.C. Tuttle and two this union two daughters were born.

She is survived by her daughter Joanne Jones of Raymondville, MO, a sister Mabel Ward of Iowa, and 3 granddaughters; Kristi Jones, Mistye Jones and Ginger Williams and husband Rick and a great-granddaughter Amber Kay Glenn.

Wilma was baptized at an early age and attended Church at Simmons. In 1983 she transferred her membership to First Christian Church where she had 30 ½ years of perfect attendance until her health prevented her from attending.

She grew up on a farm and raised her family on a farm enjoying riding the old Farmall tractor, plowing the fields, raising a large garden and canning all types of vegetables. Wilma was a great cook and also loved to sew. She enjoyed listening country and western music but her favorite was Gospel.

Wilma loved her family and her Lord, now she has rejoined her husband and many loved ones and is rejoicing in the presence of her Heavenly Father.
