Ettie Marie Mathews was born April 16, 1927 at Lufkin, Texas to her parents, Samuel Elton Roper and Ida Mae Willis Roper. She passed away at her daughters home in Summersville, Missouri Friday evening, November 21, 2008 making her age 81 years 7 months and 5 days.
She was united in marriage to Mat Matthews, August 22, 1945. To their union two daughters were born, Sheron and Patricia.
Ettie and her husband Mat moved from Texas to the Summersville area in 2002. They enjoyed traveling together, She enjoyed sewing, embroidering, and gardening.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Ida, her husband Mat, four brothers, Robert Roper, Joe Roper, and Kenneth Roper, Claiborn Roper, four sisters, Jewel Roper, Mary Holcolm, Ecel Movesession, Lucille Nichols.
Ettie is survived by her daughters, Sheron Rabun and husband Don of Summersville, MO; Patricia Updegraff and husband Dewey of Austin, Texas; and her grandchildren, Wade Rabun, Clay Goodney, Keely Parrish, and 12 great grandchildren, and 1 niece Natalie Mathews.
Graveside Funeral Services were held Sunday, November 23, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Dixie Cemetery near Summersville. Arrangements were under the care of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville.
