Robert "Bob" C. Peterson Sr. 1920-2009

Robert "Bob" C. Peterson Sr., 88, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at Missouri Veterans Home in St. James.

He was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Winter, Wisc., son of Charles Peterson and Grace Austin Peterson Reed. He and Charmaine Burgdorf were married Nov. 19, 1954. He later married Hazel Johnson Hamilton on Jan. 14, 1980.

He was a delivery truck driver for many years and worked for the Forestry Department in Houston until retirement.

In his later years, he enjoyed driving his wife, Hazel, through the countryside and eating at their favorite restaurant. He enjoyed music and playing his harmonica and guitar at family gatherings.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion. He served in the Army from 1944-1946 and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Morris.

Survivors include six children, Rickie Moncrief, Bob Peterson, Bill Peterson, Pat Johnson, Pete Peterson and Mike Peterson; a stepdaughter, Opal Keeter; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services were Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jerry Dodson officiating. Burial was in Peterson Cemetery.
