Herbert "Gene" Atkisson, age 74, son of Herbert B. and Helen L. (Perkins) Atkisson was born November 29, 1934 in Maples, MO. He passed away June 18, 2009 at his home in Raymondville, MO.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers; Bill and Harry Wayne.
He is survived by his wife Sharlane(Bullock) Atkisson of Raymondville, MO, 2 daughters: Gwendale Atkisson of Plato, MO and Rachael Scantlin of Raymondville, MO, 3 granddaughters Naomi, Cheyenne and Shasta and 1 grandson Joshua, 2 great-grandaughters Miamy and Gabby, also surviving are two sisters: Geraldine Bates and Karen Duhart, and three brothers Eddie Atkisson, Ronald Atkisson and Robert House and several nieces and nephews.
Herbert grew up in the Licking, MO area. He married his sweetheart Sharlane Bullock on July 11, 1959 and to this union two daughters were born.
Herbert loved working in his garden and had many hobbies such as: fishing, black powder shoots, building wood crafts, CB radios and was a member of the Ham Radio Operators Club and he enjoyed time with his cat Skinny Minnie.
Herbert loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
