Linda Lou McGowan, 68, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Cox South.
She was born Feb. 10, 1941, in Rockbridge, daughter of Ralph and Geneva Edwards Mackey. She married I.K. "Pat" McGowan.
She grew up in the Rockbridge area and attended Lower Brixey School. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1958.
She was employed several years at Brown Shoe for several years. She also worked on a beef and dairy farm.
She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, especially homemade chicken noodles, mowing, sewing, taking care of her animals, singing and playing instruments.
She recently gave her heart to the Lord.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Lane McGowan of Mountain Grove; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two brothers, Eldon Mackey of Mountain Grove and Billy Mackey of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters; Judy Williams of Virginia Beach, Va, and Nancy Turner and Mary Knox of Mountain Grove; a special uncle, Doin Mackey; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were Friday, July 24, at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Darin Chappell officiating. Burial was in Rock Springs Cemetery.
