James Arvil Skiles, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009.
He was born May 3, 1924, in Licking, son of Peter and Irmey Kennedy Skiles. He and Naomi Eileen Bean were married Oct. 17, 1947.
He spent many years self-employed in St. Louis. He and his wife, Eileen, retired in 1984 to the Skiles family farm in Licking.
He enjoyed visiting with many friends and family. He attended United Methodist Church in Licking.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen of Jefferson City; two children, Erma Terry and David Skiles of Jefferson City; a sister, Alberta Skiles Medlock; five grandchildren; two step-grandsons; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Connie Bell officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
